People's Daily covers CSSA members' meeting to protest Chen's pro-independence
move

2/28/06

Recently, the Taiwanese president Chen Shui-bian signed documents which formally scrapped the council charged with formulating policy on reunification, disregarding the benefits of Taiwanese people and the peace of the Taiwan Strait. This action has spurred wide protest from people all over the world.  Chinese students and scholars in North America, including those in Cornell Medical College, hold meetings to condemn and protest Chen's pro-independence move. This has been reported by People's Daily in its overseas section.
